Cheddar and Cheddar Gorge

This magnificent limestone gorge, carved into the southern slopes of the Mendip Hills reaches up to 500 feet in places. The sides of this ravine boast the highest inland cliffs in the country and are a must see for anyone visiting the area. Although you can drive through the gorge, we recommend buying a ticket which includes access to the caves, the museum, a cliff-top gorge walk and an open-top tour bus through the gorge - best dedicate a day to this if you can
